CASE STUDY: ASU College of Nursing Metabolic Laboratory
ASU College of Nursing Metabolic Laboratory
In 2012 a plumbing malfunction caused the brand-new metabolic laboratory at the Arizona State University to flood overnight, resulting in significant damage to the existing plastic laminate cabinetry. In planning the reconstruction, it became apparent solid surface was the perfect fit for this environment, which is constantly exposed to harsh substances.
Shield Casework designed a cabinetry solution made entirely of LG Hausys' HI-MACS solid surface and succeeded in creating an excellent alternative to plastic laminate, metal or wood.
The microbial-resistant nature of Shield Casework's solid surface solution allows the laboratory to be exposed to a wide range of chemicals without causing harm to the surfaces or cabinets. LG Hausys' HI-MACS products also meet the aesthetic needs of this room where students spend a lot of time and work with patients. The owners desired a space that would create a hospital-like atmosphere and the HI-MACS products variety of colors to meet their expectations.
Finally, durability was another aspect that led the choice toward solid surface. HI-MACS products are the perfect option for a long term investment at low-maintenance. By using Shield Casework's solution, the ASU metabolic laboratory benefits from LG Hausys' HI-MACS solid surface, not only for the countertops, but also the cabinetry.
