HI-MACS® is paving the way for the future of green building with an eco-conscious design material that can be transformed into anything you can think of.
Good for Designers, Good for the Earth
By definition, sustainable design seeks to reduce negative impacts on the environment, and the health and comfort of building occupants. Excelling in each of these areas, HI-MACS Solid Surface is a highly renewable building material that promotes healthy environments — both indoors and out. Because of our eco-conscious manufacturing processes, we're able to optimize our operations and lessen our impact on the environment. And because HI-MACS is a nonporous, low VOC-emitting surface, it promises to enhance indoor environmental quality.
Designing with the natural environment in mind is only one part of sustainable design. When creating environments where safety is key, for instance in healthcare, food service or educational settings, architects and designers need a surface they can trust. A low VOC-emitting product, HI-MACS is GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified™, as well as GREENGUARD Children & Schools™ certified, which sets chemical emissions guidelines for building products used in schools.
Additionally, all HI-MACS surfaces are NSF/ANSI Standard 51-certified to the highest level for food contact, for food of all types. And because it's nonporous, HI-MACS is completely self-sealing and resists harmful bacterial growth.
Our HI-MACS Eden Plus collection offers designers a wide range of colors and is comprised of up to 6-13% pre-consumer recycled content.
Consisting of trim materials, unused particulates, and sheets of solid surface below production standards, the reuse of this content cuts down on waste and helps us to leave a smaller carbon footprint.
Made to Last
Another principle of sustainable design concerns the quality and durability of a building material. Simply put, the stronger and better looking something is, the longer it will last.
In addition to being created responsibly, HI-MACS is extremely tough. Scratch-resistant, stain-resistant and capable of withstanding sustained temperatures up to 225°F, HI-MACS will sustain its beautiful luster and hygienic properties for years to come.
Made in the USA
Our HI-MACS production facility in Adairsville, GA began operations in 2005 and currently supplies all of North America and Europe while maintaining eco-friendly and sustainable manufacturing practices. The new plant was carefully designed and constructed to avoid impacting the surrounding wetlands.
Since opening, we've successfully reduced water waste output substantially each year. We've lessened solid waste output by almost 90% by re-purposing previously discarded materials and deploying an aggressive waste analysis and separation process. Plants are reusing the super sacks and wooden pallets by which raw materials are delivered, while cover films are collected and in turn, recycled.
Sustainability is the mindset at LG Hausys. We believe that by designing responsibly today, we ensure a better tomorrow.
